The pieces from 2018 - 2020 are inspired by old, gnarled trees that survive, maintaining a hold on life over sometimes hundreds of years. The effects of wind, water, and age create character: twisting, bending, breaking, while still living. The original artworks are linoleum block prints (linocuts). The variations on the linocuts are prints on rice paper collaged with acrylic paint. The 2018 linocuts are from trees on the edge of Bangs Canyon in Grand Junction. The 2019 linocuts, Crown, Trunk, and Roots are from a single tree in Balboa Park, San Diego. And, the most recent "Old Man" was found in Palmer Park, Colorado Springs.
